BAKWENA BA MOGOPA WALK 4 CHARITY

Partners and Sponsors,

Thank you for taking the time to view our Bakwena Walk for Charity Profile. What started as a small initiative amongst passionate hikers and business people has for the past decade become a sustainable and impactful charity event for the community of Bethanie near Brits.

We as the organizers have invested ourselves to this initiative and believe that we will hand it over to generations to come as we believe that the children and community who are beneficiaries of this initiative will in turn become drivers and contributors in future.

In this profile you will read about our efforts, aspirations and most importantly, the impact we are making in the community. Your partnership, support, motivation and participation is welcomed. We thank you in advance and wish you health and prosperity.

Background

Bakwena Walk for Charity is a voluntary event organised by members of the Bakwena ba Mogopa nation, located in Bethanie, near Brits.  Birthed from passionate hikers with a soft heart for developing underprivileged children in small towns, The Walk 4 Charity initiative began.

Our Focus

Other Experiences

Formally starting our first official walk in 2010 with a hand full of walkers, the event was well received by the community. Interest grew from walking participants and more support from local businesses managed to carry the costs of organizing a safe and fruitful charity walk. Our drive has always been to sponsor children in school with necessities such as school shoes, uniform, hygiene wear for the young girl’s and stationery to assist with their schooling.

To date, this initiative has donated thousands of school shoes and has impacted hundreds of children over the 11 years of its existence. Evolving from just a few walkers to hundreds of walkers, mountain bikers, Soccer and netball teams participating in a fun filled healthy activity day to be enjoyed by both the young and old coming from a wide range of economic backgrounds.

OUR IMPACT

Our Mission

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and to support in non-monetary contributions to alleviate the hardships experienced by orphanages based in the community. The key focus areas include food, shelter, healthcare and education at orphanages.

Our Purpose Pillars

Perseverance

With or without sponsors, we shall get together and walk and give what we have in order to maintain the momentum we have built.

Dedication

Dedicated to the core idea that gave birth to the initiative, we shall dedicate ourselves to make it a success each year.

Support

Each one must support another. From private corporate partnership / donations to local business support, the initiative will receive support and will support its beneficiaries.

Impact

Through all that we do, we shall leave a meaningful impact. Health being at the center of our walk, we believe through good health great minds are sustained.

ANNUAL INITIATIVE

Going Strong

Bakwena Walk 4 Charity has managed to sustain a success positive impact initiative for over eleven years. To achieve such a record, the initiative has to give credit to the Bakwena ba Mogopa nation and its community for allowing organizers of this initiative to continue making a meaningful positive impact on the less privileged..

Participate every Year

Seeing the joy on a child’s face after receiving a new pair of school shoes — and spending a day filled with laughter, games, and community — is the very reason we do what we do. On the day of the event, children and community members travel from near and far to join us for a vibrant programme of soccer, netball, and playful activities that bring people together and inspire healthier, more active living.
Every donation made at the event and through our school visits strengthens the impact we are able to create. Your support turns moments of joy into lasting change, and every contribution helps us reach even more children with dignity, care, and hope.
